The bad guys are an entire cast of horrific sci-fi types. The Gravebringers are essentially "body tanks," basically floating armored torsos with flappy whip arms and blue tails. Afterworld is a purely tactical game where the player leads a small squad of incredibly odd units known as Gravebringers against a whole planet of baddies. Those looking for diplomacy, research, cities, or any of the other Civ-related concepts aren't going to find them here. You'll find both the spooky atmosphere and the otherworldly content evoke the old Microprose classic nicely. Designed to see just how different from vanilla Civ a mod can be, Afterworld takes its inspiration from the classic alien-hunting strategy game, X-COM UFO Defense.
